2021 in 365 photos

In 2021 I challenged myself to take one photo per day with an analog camera.

It was an exciting project to work on and it allowed me to keep myself creative throughout the year. The impatience to discover all the photos has of course helped me to follow through with my longest project to date. Looking at the result, I am happy that I was able to tell the story of 2021 and depict my year as I lived it, whether I was a lockdown, spending my weekends at the baseball field, sitting at home with the cat, or traveling back and forth between Berlin and Utrecht to visit my girlfriend.

On one side, it was a challenging project due to its format, analog photography is not a flexible and forgiving format. Carrying a camera every day for a single picture is a burden and the strict boundary of taking a single picture per day I set myself was a challenge as well. But on the other side, the format allowed me to collect, small, genuine, and spontaneous moments. It was amazingly fun to take many portraits, something I am generally not used to.  A large thank you goes to my friends, Elke, my family, and many new faces I met in 2021 for always looking so good in front of the camera.

This gallery is a very personal project. I open myself a bit up to you to show my daily life. Thus my goal was not to achieve a perfect photographical style but rather collect memories so it would serve me as a retrospective of 2021.

I want to thank everyone again who participated in the project in front of the camera but also for all the creative input ideas and advice I got. It was an exciting journey and you all made it even better.

Below, you will find the 365 daily photos that I took in 2021. In each folder, a link is also available for the monthly playlists that I created when digging for new music
